The Two Fly Fishing Tournament Details

The Event

This years tournament will be held Thursday, May 8th and Friday May 9th, 2008. The 2008 tournament will have a similar format to previous years in that an ice breaker will be held Wednesday, May 7th to distribute rules and boat assignments. A barbecue will be held on the river Thursday May 8th and an Awards Banquet Friday night, May 9th. A practice day can be arranged on Wednesday although it is not included in the cost.

The Fisherman

The 2008 Two Fly tournament will consist of only 25 two-man teams from the oil and gas industry (50 individuals). Team members will not fish together and will fish two different stretches of the North Platte River on two different days. Participants must fish with two flies of their own choosing for the entire day; however, different flies may be selected for day two and financial arrangements have been made to accommodate additional fly changes. Three nights lodging, meals, boats, guides, and extras are included in the $4,000 cost per team.

The Benefactors

The monies generated from this event will be donated as follows: 42.5% to the Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 42.5% to the Make A Wish Foundation of Wyoming, and the remaining 15% will be donated to a Platte River Rehabilitation project.

The Prizes

The winning teams will each be awarded a Prestige fly fishing rod and reel. An appropriate Bronze has been purchased by the TWO FLY to be auctioned Friday night, and a print quality poster of the Bronze will be presented to each participant and sponsor. The person catching the largest fish of the Tournament will be presented with a hand-carved, wooden replica of his catch-and-release trophy.

The Logistics

Team participants in the 2007 TWO FLY Tournament will be given priority prior to February 15, 2008. Following February 15, 2008, applications will be considered from the second round of invitations. The Board anticipates the 2008 Tournament will fill up quickly, and we will maintain a wait list based on a variety of criteria.
